6 Enable the appropriate Channels for the Re-
ceives and Transmits options. Refer to Table 2
below for control surface channel requirements.
7 To select an icon for the device, click the im-
age—the window expands to show images for
various MIDI devices (such as keyboards, mod-
ules, interfaces, and mixers)—and select the de-
sired icon.
8 Click OK when you are done.
9 Connect the MIDI control surface to the cor-
rect port on the MIDI interface:
• Click the MIDI control surface icon’s out-
put and drag onto the input for the port or
MIDI interface. A “cable” will be drawn to
indicate the connection.
• Click the MIDI control surface icon’s input
and drag onto the output for the port or
MIDI interface.
10 Pro Tools supports use of up to four MIDI
control surfaces at the same time. If you use
multiple control surfaces, make sure that none
of the control surfaces are assigned to the same
MIDI port and channel.

Connect and configure your MIDI interface ac-
cording to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Before using a MIDI control surface with
Pro Tools, you must first configure it as a device
in the Opcode Open Music System application
(OMS).
