4.ClicktheToolstabandthenclickOptimize.
5.ClickOptimizeintheOptimizeDriveswindowthatisdisplayedtostartadisk-defragmentationprocess.
Insufcientmemory
Symptom:Insufcientmemory
Ingeneral,themorememorythatisinstalled,thebettertheWindowsoperatingsystemruns.
Action:Installadditionalmemory.Forinformationaboutpurchasingmemory,seeChapter11“Getting
information,help,andservice”onpage111.Forstep-by-stepinstructionsoninstallingmemory,see

Printerproblems
Symptom:Theprinterdoesnotwork.
Actions:Verifythat:
1.Theprinteristurnedonandisonline.
2.Paperisloadedcorrectly.
3.Theprintersignalcableissecurelyconnectedtothecorrectparallel,serial,orUSBconnectoronthe
computer.
Note:Non-IEEE-approvedprintersignalcablesmightcauseunpredictableproblems.
1.Anydevicedriversandothersoftwarethatcamewiththeprinterarecorrectlyinstalled.
2.Youhaveassignedtheprinterportcorrectlyinyouroperatingsystem,applicationprogram,orBIOS
settings.FormoreinformationaboutBIOSsettings,seeChapter7“UsingtheSetupUtilityprogram”

Iftheproblempersists,runthetestsdescribedinthedocumentationthatcomeswithyourprinter.Ifyou

Serialconnectorproblems
Usethisinformationtotroubleshoottheserialconnectoranddevicesattachedtotheserialconnector.
Symptom:Serialconnectorcannotbeaccessed.
Actions:
•Makesuretheserialcableissecurelyconnectedtotheserialconnectoronthecomputerandtotheserial
device.Iftheserialdevicehasitsownpowercord,makesureitisattachedtoaproperlygrounded
electricaloutlet.
