1 INTRODUCTION
CloseBy Card is a credit-card sized device that may be used for asset tracking and contact tracing
applications. Physically, the card is 54mm x 86mm x 4.5mm in size, and it contains an ultra-low-
power Bluetooth Low Energy radio with a long-life battery.
CloseBy Card has a button, and two indicator lights (LEDs) – one green and one red. The button is
used for activation of the card, battery status check, and enablement of the secure download mode.
The green and red indicators are used to show card mode of operation, and battery status.
Usage of CloseBy Card is described in the following sections.
2 ACTIVATION
Before its first use your CloseBy Card must be activated. To do this, press and hold the activation
button until the green indicator blinks twice.
Activation is a one-time operation. Once activated your CloseBy Card will automatically transition
between its awake state (when you are wearing it), and its sleep state (when it is motionless).
3 BATTERY STATUS CHECK
To check the battery status of your CloseBy Card, press the activation button once. Two blinks of the
green indicator means that the battery is healthy. Two blinks of the red indicator means that the
battery is nearly exhausted.
