2.5 Command Routing
Commandroutingisaveryimportantconsiderationtocontemplatewhendesigningamultiple
network CBus installation. Every single CBus command has information in it, that specifies
whichnetworktocommunicatewith.
WhenroutingCBuscommands,itisimportanttounderstandtwothings:
1) IfaCBuscommandisgeneratedspecificallyforadedicatednetwork,thenthededicated
network is the only CBus network that will see and react to the command sent. Eg. A
selectedGroupAddressfromaTouchScreen.
2) Messages containing no routing information are destined only for the network that the
commandwasgeneratedon. For CBus commands with no routing information to be
routedtoanothernetwork,anetworkbridgemustbeused.
Standard CBus input units are notcapable of directly routin
g CBus messages to other
networks.
ThereareanumberofdevicesthatwillactuallyrouteCBuscommandsacrossnetworkbridges.
Thesedevicesare:
NetworkBridges
Otherroutingenableddevices.

2.5.1BridgeRouting
OnCBusnetworks wheretherearenodevices capableofroutingCBuscommandstoanother
CBus network, a network bridge can be used to route the commands. This will allow
commandswithnoroutinginformationtobetransmittedto:
theadjacentCBusnetwork
oneotherCBusnetworkintheinstallation.

