2.1.2 C‐BusNetworkExtender
TheremaybeinstancesinacommercialC‐Bus i n stallation,whereoneofthefundamentalC‐Bus
operatingparametersisexceeded.Theseparametersmaybe:
• morethan100C‐Busunits
• morethan2AmpsofC‐BusCurrent
• morethan1kmofC‐BusCAT5cable
• morethen255GroupAddresses.
Itiswhenoneoftheseparametersisexceeded,thatyouwillstill
needtoextendthenetwork.By
usingaNetworkBridgetocreateanothernetwork,youwillbeabletocreatetheappearancethat
thereisonelargeC‐Busnetworkfortheareainquestion.Thismeansthattotheaverageperson,
itwillappearthat:
• thereismorethan100C‐Busunits
• thereismorethan2AmpsofC‐Buscurrent
• thereismorethan1km’
sofC‐BusCAT5Cable.
2.1.3 C‐BusCommandFilter
Oneofthelesser‐knownfeaturesoftheNetworkBridgeisthefilteringcapability.Inthe
NetworkBridgeprogramminginterface,youwillfindtheparametercalled‘Connect
Applications.’
ThisparametergivesyoutheoptionsofselectingoneoftwouniqueApplicationAddressesor
AllApplicationAddresses(whichisthedefaultsetting).TheAppl
icationAddressesthatare
selected,areallowedtoberoutedthroughtheNetworkBridge.ThebenefitoffilteringC‐Bus
commandspresentsitself,onmultiplenetwork
installations,wheremanydifferentApplication
Addressesareused.
If all Group Addresses on all Application Addresses are being routed across the Network
Bridge, then there will be a lot of C‐Bus traffic. By filtering Applications you can minimise the
amountofC‐BustraffictotheGroupAddresseson1or2ApplicationAddressesonly.
