Nova III Owner's Manual
C ongratulations on your purchase of the Nova III. The Nova III offers a wide array of innovative features, yet it is wonderfully user-friendly. Commanding it is no more difficult than pressing a button on the keychain remote control. Take a few minutes to review the Nova III’s features. You will undoubtedly find that in addition to providing you and your vehicle exceptional security, it will also add to your lifestyle convenience.
How to Panic the System with the Remote Control As an added safety measure, the system was designed to respond if you ever face harassment and are within transmittal range of the vehicle. Simply press button I continuously for 3 seconds. The parking lights will flash and the siren will sound for your choice of 30 or 60 seconds (see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 9-10), calling attention from passersby. Remote Control Low Voltage Warning A miniature 12-volt battery powers the remote control.
Triple-Mode Chirp Muting If and when you desire, you may silence the chirp confirmations, allowing for only silent, parking light arm/disarm confirmation (of course, if an intrusion attempt occurs, the siren will sound its 125dB wail). You have three chirp muting choices: • Long-Term Chirp Silencing: You may disable the chirps until you wish to restore them. To do so, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 9-10.
Smart AutoTesting™ In the rare event of a trigger or sensor malfunction, your Nova III will alert you of the problem and will store the identity of the specific malfunctioning point in its built-in, non-volatile memory. Here’s how it works: Arm the alarm with the remote control. If the system detects a malfunctioning trigger, you will immediately hear four chirps and see four parking light flashes instead of the usual 2 chirps/2 flashes.
Tampering Warning™ Normally, Nova III immediately sounds its siren at the first inkling of an intrusion attempt. However, you may set the system to issue a rapid five-chirp warning whenever Nova III detects tampering to the exterior of your vehicle. If there is any further tampering within the next 30 seconds, or if a door, the hood or trunk is opened at any time, your Nova III will sound a continuous 125dB siren blast. To select the mode of your choice, see How to Set UserSelectable Features on pages 9-10.
AutoLock™ and AutoUnLock™ For additional safety, AutoLock automatically locks all of your vehicle’s doors when you start the engine. Conversely, AutoUnLock unlocks the doors for you and your passengers when you turn the ignition off. To deactivate (or reactivate) this feature, see How to Set User-Selectable Features on pages 9-10.
