Answering machine with call waiting
If you prefer using an answering machine, but you
also want to be alerted to incoming calls when you
are on the line with another caller, you can purchase
the call waiting feature from your telephone service
provider.
If you do not answer the second caller and the
caller leaves a message, the message becomes a
voicemail.
To set up your phone in this way, you must set the
number of “rings before pickup” for the answering
machine to be less than the number of rings before
voicemail pickup. The number of rings before
voicemail pickup is determined when you set up
voicemail with your service provider.
