Seamless Roaming
Tempest Seamless Roaming is a powerful feature that allows a BeltSta on to automa cally seek-out and move to a di erent
BaseSta on than the one it is currently on, with no user interven on. This feature can provide increased coverage area,
and system fl exibility for those users who need it. Because all of the roaming decision making takes place within the
BeltSta on, individual BeltSta ons can be set to roam or not to roam, and programmed to BaseSta ons they desire to
roam between. Tempest Seamless Roaming is able to be used with any Tempest BaseSta on Mode (Normal, Shared, or
Split) provided that all the BaseSta ons in a par cular “Roaming Group” are in the same mode. This sec on seeks to give
a basic overview of Tempest Seamless Roaming. More complex examples and suggested implementa ons will be covered
in the Tempest Roaming Guide.
Pre-Requisites
Hardware
• Two or more BaseSta ons (Remote Transceiver op onal)
• All BaseSta ons, BeltSta ons, and Remote Transceivers must be equipped with radio version 1.18 or higher.
• Seamless Roaming is dependent on the ZSync technology. All BaseSta ons in a “Roaming Group” must be connected
to the same ZSync source (either a Zero Sync Dongle or a Parallel Zero Sync Generator)
• All BaseSta ons within a “Roaming Group” must have their Network Numbers in the same Network Number Group.

Firmware
• All BaseSta ons and BeltSta ons must have system  rmare version 3.0 or higher.
Verifying Se ngs
BaseSta on
To verify Radio and Firmware versions within the BaseSta on, press MENU, select “BaseSta on Se ngs,” scroll to “Tech
Menu” (proceed through warning), select “Diagnos c Mode,” and select “System Informa on.
• Radio Version - This needs to be 1.18 or higher
• PIC - This must be 3.00.00 or higher
• DSP Version - This must be 3.00.00 or higher
BeltSta on
To verify Radio and Firmware versions within the BaseSta on, Press MENU, select “Belt Se ngs,” scroll to “Tech Menu”
(proceed through warning), select “Diagnos cs,” and select “Sys Informa on. Note: There is no PIC Version in the BeltSta on.
• Radio Version - This needs to be 1.18 or higher
• DSP Version - This must be 3.00.00 or higher
Remote Transceiver
Remote Transceivers are not required for Seamless Roaming implementa on, but if they are being u lized they MUST meet
the same radio pre-requisite of version 1.18 or higher that a BaseSta on requires. To verify, plug in the Remote Transceiver
to the rear of the BaseSta on, then press MENU, select “BaseSta on Se ngs,” scroll to “Tech Menu” (proceed through
warning), select “Diagnos c Mode,” and select “System Informa on.
