59 Tempest®24 00 4-Channel Wireless Intercom System
Connec ng Mul ple BaseSta ons
Tempest BaseSta ons may be used together to form large wireless
systems, and may include external wired intercom systems. Intercom
audio for any or all channels can be linked across mul ple BaseSta ons.
Audio from one BaseSta on can be passed via a 2-Wire connec on
to another BaseSta on, if they are to share a single channel of audio.
Through this method, many complex combina ons of intercom channels
can be achieved.
All RF devices have the poten al to cause interference. Therefore,
Tempest o ers two synchronizatoin op ons, Accu-Sync™ and ZSync™,
that are designed to minimize poten al interference when using
mul ple BaseSta ons.
Accu-Sync is included with every Tempest BaseSta on and uses the
Accu-Sync connec ons on the back of the BaseSta on to synchronize
mul ple BaseSta ons together.
See the Accu-Sync sec on on for more
informa on on using Accu-Sync.
Zero Sync (ZSync) technology has been developed to enable Tempests Seamless Roaming feature as well as greatly
enhance the performance of non-roaming mul -BaseSta on Tempest installa ons. The ZSync technology provides a more
sophis cated form of BaseSta on synchroniza on over the older Accu-Sync technology. To u lize ZSync technology either
a Zero Sync Generator or a Parallel Zero Sync Generator is necessary to act as the source of the ZSync signal. These devices
are sold separately. All Tempest BaseSta ons con nue to support and provide Accu-Sync synchroniza on signals. It is,
however, strongly recommended that ZSync technology be used whenever there is a mul ple BaseSta on con gura on.
Tempest includes a Master Mode which provides required audio power when only Tempest BaseSta ons are linked without
external intercom.
See the Master Mode sec on.
A mul -base system will generally u lize Tempest Remote Transceivers to distribute the wireless signal, some mes
extending the number of users by overlapping the wireless coverage area, and some mes extending the wireless range
with the iSelect Roaming feature. In this applica on, always try to separate antennas by at least 10 feet whenever possible.
A 4-Wire matrix intercom system may be con gured to connect to mul ple Tempest BaseSta ons so that all share the
same channels. Con gure each BaseSta on individually as described in 4-Wire (Matrix) Intercom Interface. The following
informa on relates to mul ple BaseSta on con gura ons without a matrix system.
If intercom channels are connected across mul ple BaseSta ons without connec on to an
ac ve 2-Wire intercom, one of the BaseSta ons must be placed into Master Mode.
If mul ple BaseSta ons are linked on a common audio channel, each BaseSta on must
be nulled separately. Null one BaseSta on at a  me.
