25 Tempest®24 00 4-Channel Wireless Intercom System
Antenna Loca on
Proper antenna loca on is essen al for op mum system performance and
maximum range. Antenna posi oning is important with all RF systems and in all
applica ons.
Locate the Tempest BaseSta on antennas as high as possible for your applica on
to maximize line-of-sight RF opera on. Posi oning the antennas higher than
head level is the minimum acceptable height for most applica ons. Maintaining
line of sight between the BaseSta on antennas and the BeltSta on(s) is ideal.
When using mul ple BaseSta ons, keep as much space between the antennas as
possible, but a minimum of 24 inches is recommended. Increasing the distance
between antennas to may help to improve performance.
If possible, locate the antenna(s) away from any metal obstruc ons and away from walls or other signi cant structures, by
at least 24 inches.
When using omni-direc onal (Whip) antennas, always locate the antennas as close to the center of the coverage area as
possible. Omni-direc onal antennas have a circular pa ern and radiate RF energy equally in all direc ons at approximately
a 90° angle to the element of the antenna.
Other antenna op ons are available including direc onal and higher gain antennas. Please contact your dealer or distributor
for more informa on on op onal antennas. Only use approved antennas. Unauthorized antennas may be illegal.
Using more than one BaseSta on permits an increase in the number of wireless BeltSta ons within an area, or by u lizing
one of Tempests roaming features, allows increasing the area covered and even allows for the crea on of separate, but
adjacent or overlapping coverage areas. The number of BaseSta ons that can be u lized in a system is limited by RF
compe on between systems and several other RF condi ons. Judicious placement of antennas can help facilitate a large
number of wireless BeltSta on users on a single system.

When rack moun ng the Tempest BaseSta on or when it is stacked with other equipment,
always remote mount antennas or use the Tempest Remote Transceiver to ensure
maximum opera onal range.
