MasterBelt Set-up
Selec ng MasterBelt Loca on
Antenna Pa ern
The Tempest MasterBelt and BeltSta on have the same internal patch antenna located
at the top-end of the unit. It is important to understand the antenna propaga on when
determining the loca on of the MasterBelt during opera on. The MasterBelt and
BeltSta on antenna is a linear polarized omnidirec onal antenna. However, due to its
posi oning at the top of the BeltSta on, the antenna is a enuated at it’s bo om thus
crea ng a direc onal pa ern.
Fixed Loca on
Despite having no external antenna, the
Tempest MasterBelt can be used in the same
manner as tradi onal Tempest BaseSta ons.
However, there could be an impact on the
system’s range depending on the chosen
loca on and orienta on.
When determining a loca on to place the
MasterBelt, use the same approach used
with Tempest BaseSta ons and/or Remote
Transceivers. Be sure that line-of-sight
from MasterBelt to standard BeltSta ons is
maintained for op mal performance. Any
obstruc ons can cause the RF signal to
become a enuated and diminish range and
performance.
Mobile Opera on
When using the MasterBelt in a mobile applica on, system range will be less due to body shielding.
