Troubleshooting
If the device should stop working properly, fi rst check whether you are able to correct the
problem yourself.
Do not attempt to repair a defective electrical device yourself!
Problem Possible cause/solution
The device does not
work. The operating
lamp does not light
up/fl ash.
• Is the mains plug correctly inserted into the socket?
• Is the socket defective? Try a different socket and check the
fuse of your mains connection.
Water emerges from
the bottom of the
iron.
• Is the water reservoir overfi lled? Pour away some water
(see the "After Use" section).
• Select a higher temperature setting (•••) so that steam can
be generated.
Smoke is emitted
from the device.
• You might notice a small amount of smoke the fi rst time you
use the device. However, this is harmless and will cease as
you use the device.
The device makes
loud pumping
noises.
• Is the water reservoir empty? Refi ll it.
No steam is
produced.
• Is the water reservoir fi lled with water?
• The device has not yet reached operating temperature.
Wait a few minutes.
• Is the temperature control on a low temperature setting?
Select a higher temperature setting.
• Is the steam quantity control in the 0 position? Move it to
setting 1 or 2.
• Is the device upright? Press the
steam burst button to
check whether any steam emerges.
• If you have set a high temperature, the steam which is gen-
erated is dry and almost invisible. This is exacerbated by a
high ambient temperature. Switch the temperature control
to a lower temperature to check whether the device is pro-
ducing steam.
• Have you not moved the device for some time? The auto-
matic safety switch-off function was activated. Take hold of
the handle so that the device switches back on and heats
up again.
