FEC – Forward A technique which lowers the error rate during data
Error Correction transmission. Additional bits are inserted into the data flow,
so that error correction algorithms can be applied on
reception.
HDTV High-Definition Television: For analogue standards.
Development is based on, and is used as the basis for
ffurther developing, the PAL standard to form PAL plus.
HFC Hybrid Fibre Coax: Designation of a hybrid solution in the
connection area of network subscribers in which case glass
fibres are not routed continuously from the station to the
receiver, but in which existing, coaxial copper cable is used
as of a specific point.
FTA Free-to-air services: Fee-free services which can be
received without a special decoder.
Loop-through The signal which arrives at the input is intercepted again at
the output jack for further distribution.
MPEG-2 International standard for transmitting video signals.
Mute Remote control button for deactivating the sound.
OSD On-Screen Display:
Menu control system which is visible on the screen.
PID Packet Identifier: Identification number of a received data
flow; the PIDs ensure that a station can be received in full.
QAM Quadrature Amplitude Modulation:
Digital modulation process with phase shift keying, which is
used in cable network transmissions.
Receiver Receiving device which converts the signals from the
antenna into video and audio signals.
SCART 21-pin connector for connecting the TV set to the receiver.
