AC Alternating Current.
BER Bit Error Rate: Quality of a received, demodulated data
signal. The lower the rate, the better the signal.
CATV Community Antenna Television: Reception of radio and TV
channels via a community antenna.
Conditional
Access (CA)

DAB Digital Audio Broadcasting: The system additionally offers
data transmission capacities. Data compression is carried
out via MPEG-2.
Data rate Number of data bits transmitted per second, specified in
kbit/s or Mbit/s. The higher the data rate, the better the
transmitted signal.
Data reduction Compression of picture and sound signals. Redundant
information is omitted.
DC Direct Current
DVB Digital Video Broadcasting: Transmission of video and

A technique which lowers the error rate during data
transmission. Additional bits are inserted into the data flow,
so that error correction algorithms can be applied on
reception.
HDTV High-Definition Television: For analogue standards.
Development is based on, and is used as the basis for
further developing, the PAL standard to form PAL plus.
