SECTION 1.0: GETTING STARTED, TAKING PRECAUTIONS This manual attempts to explain the full operation of this CD/DVD player, but some DVD video discs may have functions that may not be fully explained. There may be extra instructions on the Disc or on the packaging the Disc came in. Some Disc instructions may be different from instructions in this manual. To use the available functions it may be necessary to follow the instructions displayed on the TV screen or on the packaging. 1.
SECTION 2.0: CONNECTING THE CD/DVD-1 Following are the descriptions of the Outputs available on the CD/DVD-1. Use the diagram below to follow the discussion regarding input and output connections. 2.1 VIDEO OUTPUTS SAFETY NOTE: Before you begin work we very strongly advise that all associated electronic equipment be unplugged from the AC outlets. They should at least be switched off with the AC switch (NOT in Standby).
SECTION 3.0: CD/DVD-1 FRONT PANEL CONTROLS AND DISPLAY The CD/DVD-1 is easy and intuitive to operate. The nine buttons on the Front Panel of the Player/Transport give you the options you need to generally turn it on and use it successfully day after day. There are DVDs with multiple Audio Tracks which will require the use of the remote, but usually you only have to insert a CD or DVD and press play.
SECTION 4.0: CD/DVD-1 PANEL DISPLAY INFORMATION 4.1 DISPLAY The Front Panel Display provides complete information on the current operation of the CD/DVD-1. Though you will likely find you rarely use the information available on the front Panel Display of the CD/DVD-1, the information displayed there can be quite helpful in playing CDs and DVDs. The description numbers on the drawing below are fully described in the next few pages. 4.1.
4.1.22 INFO This is displayed when you have first insert a DVD. INFO indicates the CD/DVD-1 is waiting for input from you. INFO indicates you must select which Audio format (dts or Dolby Digital or another format which may be available on the disc and/or a particular Title. 4.1.23 A # This is displayed when you first insert a CD and TOTAL and TIME are lit on the line above, indicating the Total Minutes and Seconds contained on the CD. The same number will be displayed if you stop the CD. TOTAL TIME is lit.
STOP STOP causes the currently playing disc to cease playing. A display of the number of available Titles appears on screen, with a notice that pressing either the < or > key will cause the Disc to eject. |<< PREVIOUS will cause the program to return to the beginning of the current CD Track or DVD Chapter. A second immediate press causes the program to jump to the beginning of the previous Track/Chapter. A third immediate press will jump to the next previous Track/Chapter.
SECTION 6.0: SETTING UP THE CD/DVD-1 6.1 SETTING UP THE CD/DVD-1 IS EASY Setting Up the CD/DVD-1 really is quite easy. There are only few decisions to make, and all the questions are quite straightforward. Once the player is set up for use, of course, there will still be a question or two relating to the program available on a DVD you want to play. You may have to choose which Audio format you prefer or which screen shape you might want. You may exit Setup at any point on the Menu by pressing SETUP again.
6.1.8.3 INCLUDE TRACKS ON FTS To Include Tracks (useful if you wish to play only a few Tracks) press the > key after you have pressed STOP. The OSD on your TV Monitor will show you the available Track numbers in a lower band and a band above with the selected tracks. Use the < or > to move to and highlight tracks you wish to include. (The numbers of the Tracks correspond to the Track numbers printed on the CD case insert). When you have highlighted a Track you want to play press the V key on the remote.
7.1.2.1 RESUME You can resume Play at the point you Stopped by pressing > twice. (The resume feature applies to the current disc, and also to the previous Four discs. You may re-insert a previously Stopped disc (up to the 4th) and resume Play where you left off. Put the disc in the player, press > if Auto-play is off, and press > (again while the Resume Icon > is on screen). 7.1.
7.2.4 SKIP TO ANOTHER INDEX To Skip to another Index within a Track while a disc is playing, press the >>| key to skip forward or the |<< key to skip back to the beginning of the previous index. If you skip forward to the next Index and decide to return to the Original Title, press the |<< key. You will return to the beginning of the original index. To go directly to a particular index, press the numeric keys corresponding to the Index you wish to watch. Enter multiple digits in quick succession. 7.2.
APPENDIX A, RC5 CODES FOR CD/DVD-1 AND PROCESSORS Below are the codes for programing programable remote controls. The sequence of codes must include all of the information, including defining the code as RC5. Example: RC5 System 12 Code 53 for ‘PLAY’.
