Step 7. Move files to the proper location
After you have restored your FileMaker Server 7 settings, you must
move any database files, script files, and plug-ins you used with
FileMaker Server 7 to the proper folders within the FileMaker Server
8 folder structure.
See “Step 2. Place database files in the proper location” on page 26,
“Default folders for plug-in files” on page 49, and “Default folders for
script files” on page 56.
Step 8. Complete your migration
After you have moved any database files, script files, and plug-ins you
used with FileMaker Server 7 to the proper location, confirm that the
software is working successfully.
1. Start FileMaker Server Admin and start the FileMaker Server 8
services (Windows) or daemons (Mac OS) if you stopped them prior
to using the Restore Settings tool.
See “Starting FileMaker Server (Windows)” on page 45 or “Starting
FileMaker Server (Mac OS)” on page 46.
2. Verify that your databases are open. See “Verifying your
installation” on page 22. It may take several minutes to open a large
file.
Note As FileMaker Server opens files that were not closed properly
or have not been opened in a FileMaker 8 product, FileMaker Server
performs a consistency check on these files and logs the result of the
check in the event log.
3. Verify that your preferences and schedules are correct, especially
the file and folder paths.
For FileMaker Server Advanced users
If the FileMaker Server Web Publishing Engine is installed on the
same computer as FileMaker Server, it is important to run the Web
Publishing Engine Back Up Settings and Restore Settings tools.

Publishing Installation Guide
