Setting general application preferences
In general application preferences, you set options for displaying
keyboard shortcuts, dragging and dropping text, displaying template
files, showing the status bar, and the number of previously opened files
that are listed in the File menu. You can also specify your user name and
network protocol.
Do this To
Type a name for User name Specify the current user’s name
Choose a network from the Network
Protocol list
Select a network connection. Changes to this
setting don’t take effect until you exit
FileMaker Pro and then start it again. If your
computer is running Windows 3.1, see the
note below.
Select Enable drag and drop text selection Use drag and drop to transfer text without using
the Clipboard
Select Show Status bar Show a status bar at the bottom of the window
with information about onscreen elements
Select Show templates in New File dialog Display a list of template files when you start
FileMaker Pro or choose New from the File menu
Select Show all keyboard shortcuts in menus Display keyboard shortcuts (for example, Ctrl+S
for Sort)
Select Recently opened files Display recently opened files in the File menu.
You can also select how many files appear in the
menu, up to a maximum of nine files.
