7-2 FileMaker Pro User’s Guide
Keep these points in mind:
1 You can share FileMaker Pro files between a computer running
Windows and a computer running the Mac OS just as you share files
among networked computers on the same platform. For example, you
can host a file on a Windows computer, and then guests on Windows
computers or Mac OS–based computers can connect to the same file.
When you share files between platforms, you may see differences in
font mapping, alignment of layout objects, and character set mapping.
1 For enhanced file sharing capabilities, use the FileMaker Pro Server
application to host files.
1 To change network connections, see “Setting general application
preferences” on page 9-2.
Choose FileMaker Help Index from the Help menu, and then type:
E sharing files
The host opens the file
Guests open connections to the file
