Editing text
You can make changes to text after you type it on the layout.
Keep these points in mind:
1 To restore text you deleted, choose Undo from the Edit menu before
you do anything else in FileMaker Pro.
1 Text you cut or copy stays on the Clipboard until the next time you
use Cut or Copy.

1 To rearrange text on the layout, see “Arranging objects” on page 3-43.
Displaying special information
You can display or print fixed information (like the date as it was when
entered) or variable information (like today’s date) when you print or
preview records. For example, display the current time in a report footer
each time you print the report. You can also display the date, time, or
user name as it is when you place it in the layout. This information stays
the same whenever you display, print, or preview records.
To Do this
Replace text Select the text, and then type the new text.
Paste a copy of
text elsewhere
Select the text, and then choose Copy from the Edit menu. Click
where you want the text to appear, and then choose Paste from the
Edit menu.
Remove text and paste
it elsewhere
Select the text, and then choose Cut from the Edit menu. To paste
the cut text, click where you want the text to appear, and then
choose Paste from the Edit menu.

Delete text permanently Select the text, and then press Backspace. FileMaker Pro doesn’t
place your selection on the Clipboard, and you can’t paste it
anywhere.
Paste text from a
different application
In the other application, select the text. Choose Copy or Cut from
the Edit menu. Click where you want the text on the FileMaker Pro
layout, and then choose Paste from the Edit menu.
Choose FileMaker Help Index from the Help menu, and then type:
