5. Select calculation options for the field.
6. To select indexing and storage type options for the field, click Storage
Options, select options, and then click OK.
7. Click OK, and then click Done.

Make the calculated
field repeating
Click Repeating field with a maximum of
n
values, and then type the
maximum number (up to 1000) of repetitions you want.
Set the field type of the
result
For Calculation result is <value>, choose a field type for the result.
Be sure to choose the correct type for the result you want.
See fields from a
different file
Choose a filename from the relationship pop-up menu. (For
more information about relationships, see “Understanding
relationships” on page 10-9.)
Have FileMaker Pro
perform a calculation
even when all
referenced fields have
no value (are empty)
Deselect Do not evaluate if all referenced fields are empty. (Do this
when you always want FileMaker Pro to calculate a result, even
if the field is empty or has never been modified.) Select this
option when you don’t want FileMaker Pro to evaluate the
calculation until one of the referenced fields has a value (so you
don’t display zero as a result).

result unstored
Select Do not store calculation results—calculate only when needed.
To store the result in the field, deselect the option.
Index the result For Indexing, select On. To remove indexing, select Off. (See
“Indexing fields” on page 2-12.)
Specify the language
for finding and sorting
indexed values
Choose the language from the pop-up menu. (See “Indexing
fields” on page 2-12.)
