Networking requirements
To share files with other computers on a network, FileMaker Pro 10
supports the TCP/IP network protocol. If you’re not sure which network
protocol is installed and in use on your computer, check with your
network administrator before you begin installation.
To connect to a network, your computer must also have a network card
and the required software.
FileMaker Pro Network Sharing supports the sharing of files with up to 9
concurrent users (not including the host and Instant Web Publishing
connections). To share files with more than 9 concurrent users on a
network, FileMaker recommends the use of FileMaker Server, which
provides expanded availability, enhanced security, and increased
performance. For more information on FileMaker Server, visit
www.filemaker.com.
Web publishing requirements
To publish a database on the web using FileMaker Pro Instant Web
Publishing, you need a host computer with access to the internet or an
intranet via TCP/IP.
FileMaker Pro Instant Web Publishing supports sharing databases with up
to 5 concurrent users. For greater web integration and connectivity, use
FileMaker
Server Advanced, which supports Instant Web Publishing,
Custom Web Publishing, and ODBC and JDBC clients. For more
information about FileMaker
Server Advanced, visit
www.filemaker.com.
Note Access to the internet requires an internet service provider (ISP).
FileMaker
Pro does not provide an internet account for you.
