2005 Product Application Guide
Here’s the fix: Included on the CD-ROM packaged with
this guide are two system diagrams that will help you
overcome this obstacle. Both utilize the subwoofer
level controls offered by Clarion’s
EQS744 7-band graphic equalizer
and MCD360 3-way electronic
crossover. I think you know where
we’re going with this, right?
Capturing Clarion’s Signature
Sound: The VRX755VD
The VRX755VD offers a host of features geared toward
reproducing Clarion’s signature sound, such as 6-Channel
RCA line level outputs, and 212 Watts of max power out-
put. Here’s a list of other key features you need to tell
your customer:
24-Bit Digital-to-Analog Converter
For you techno junkies, 24-Bit conversion translates
into a higher signal-to-noise ratio for better sound and
imaging. This is the result of
increased “oversampling” of
the original signal, as linearity
errors and notch distortion
are greatly reduced.
Magna Bass EX:
This feature was designed for serious bass aficionados,
as it boosts the ultra-low frequency with a center frequen-
cy of 50Hz. Think of it as a “loud-
ness” button for your bass, as this
feature also incorporates an auto-
matic boost level control for well-
balanced bass reproduction
even at high volumes.
3-Band Parametric EQ
Provides users with three bands of adjustments.
Each band LOW, MID, HIGH
has selectable frequencies,
adjustable gain and selectable Q
(width of frequency adjustment).
Got Video…Got Options:
Rear-Seat Entertainment
Clarion offers three categories of rear-seat video
entertainment options: including two overhead categories
and two headrest-monitor solutions. All three categories
offer Clarion’s high-resolution LCD screens, which utilize
the latest in active matrix LCD technology. This includes
the use of Thin Film Transistors (TFT), which attach to
each RGB (red/green/blue) pixel. This prevents the “white
wash” effect common with passive matrix screens.
All three rear-seat entertainment solutions also come
with Clarion’s external Game Port, which can be installed
anywhere inside the vehicle. This Game Port allows your
customers to easily connect any type of video source,
including a camcorder, game console, and DVD player.
Overheads With DVDs
Clarion’s all-in-one rear-seat entertainment systems come
in a 7-inch (OHMD74) and an all-new 10.2-inch (OHMD102)
flip-down version. Both come equipped with a built-in DVD
player that can also play CDs, CD-R/RWs, DVD+/-R/RWs,
and MP3 music files.
Getting “Podified” With Clarion’s VRX755VD
The best part about the VRX755VD’s built-in iPod interface is there’s no learning curve for your
customers. Why? The VRX755VD’s iPod-control screen mirrors that of Apple’s popular music
player complete with an iPod-like onscreen control pad and information display. Best of all, the
VRX755VD is the only touch-screen solution on the market today. All that’s required is a third-
generation-or-newer iPod, the VRX755VD, and Clarion’s CCA649 iPod data connecting cable,
which also powers and charges the Apple music player during operation. Other cool features
include full playlist access, a host playback functions, including Apple’s popular “Shuffle” feature.
Multimedia
What Else Does Your Customer Get
Try DVD, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3 playback. This true
single-DIN (meaning no external components!) mobile
multimedia station is equipped with a high-resolution 7"
monitor (excellent off-axis viewing), flip-down fully detach-
able faceplate, and integrated DSP tuner. And aside from
being iPod ready, the VRX755VD is SIRIUS Ready
(SIRCL2), TV tuner ready (TTX7501z), surround sound
ready (DVH940), and DVD (VCZ625)/CD (DCZ625)
changer ready all of which is made possible using
Clarion’s CeNET component connection system.
Getting Tricky With 2 Zone Entertainment
Totally revamped for 2005, the VRX755VD’s 2 Zone
Entertainment features allows for more entertainment
combinations when entertaining front- and rear-seat
passengers (see table). What hasn’t changed is the loss
of the 2 Zone feature when Clarion’s DVH940 processor
is connected no biggie.
Now here’s where it gets tricky. Unlike last year’s version,
2 Zone utilizes the non-fade RCA output (Purple RCAs
used to connect a subwoofer), transforms it into a fixed-
level output and sends the audio feed to a wireless head-
phone transmitter. This isn’t a problem as long as there’s
no subwoofer tied into the system. If so, your customers
may blow more than a speaker.
