Phaze 1 Speakers
When it comes to Clarion’s Phaze 1 speakers, the line
actually consists of two. There’s the silver series and
the black series. You can see the difference in the
cosmetics. Think of the silver series as Clarion’s mid-level
speakers perfect for customers looking for a great
sounding, yet reasonably priced speaker to link to an
external amplifier. As for the black series, think of it as the
perfect factory replacement speaker, as it adds better
sound at factory-level-rated power.
Clarion also incorporates a balanced-
drive PEI dome for the tweeter, which
offers great durability and long lasting
music enjoyment. Clarion also utilizes
a PEI material for the mid-range cones,
which offers excellent frequency
characteristics and excellent SPL.
Metallized Mica-Injected Polypropylene Cone
The metallized-injected polypropylene compound material
utilized by the silver series woofer cones provides the
lightness and rigidity demanded of today’s speakers. Even
when fielding fast transients, these Phaze 1 speakers
generate superior dynamic response and crystal clear
sound with very low distortion.
Rear-Vented Pole Piece
Sporting an innovative design that prevents pressure
buildup inside the dust cap, Clarion equips its Phaze 1
speakers with an air vent located to the rear of the pole
piece. This not only prevents the voice coils from over-
heating, but also increases the air output from the woofer
duct. This results in smoother cone movement.
Phaze 1 Coaxial Speakers
The reason behind the great sound offered by Clarion’s
Phaze 1 speakers is their unique coaxial design. Clarion
does this by aligning the phases of the woofer and
tweeter, resulting in a smoother frequency response
and a more accurate sound field position.
Metallized PEI Balanced Drive Tweeter
Because of its superior physical properties that result in
clearer output, polyether imide boast high rigidity, high
durability and high resistance to extreme heat. That’s why
Clarion has outfitted its Phaze 1 Balanced Drive Tweeters
with an integrated PEI diaphragm and voice coil bobbin,
as it dramatically improves the dynamic range of any
sound system.
Metallized PEI Tweeter Cone
Clarion’s metallized PEI tweeter cone is impervious to
heat and other ambient conditions prevalent inside a
vehicle. This metallized cone creates an ultra-lightweight
diaphragm, resulting in high efficiency and very fast
dynamic range.

ProAudio Speakers
Glass-Fiber Woofer Cone
With its woven glass-fiber material, Clarion’s ProAudio
speaker cones offer the type of rigidity that will stand
up to the rigorous in-car environment. The material also
produces little to no distortion because of it ability to
prevent the cone from flexing during high input levels.
The result is rich full bass that harmoniously melds with
tight, accurate music reproduction.
“In-Phase” Coaxial Design
A key component to experiencing natural sound
imaging and staging is ProAudio’s “In-Phase” Coaxial
Design. This tweeter configuration minimizes the phase
differential between the woofer and tweeter, preventing
time lag between high- and low-frequency sounds from
becoming audible to the listener.
Silk Dome Tweeters
It’s a well known fact that the most accurate sounding
tweeter are those that incorporate silk into the dome. This
results in a velvety-smooth treble response. Blending the
suppleness and a level of stiffness that provides your
sound with superior detail, these silk dome tweeters can
sense minute signals even at low input levels.
Full-Featured 2-Way 12dB/Oct. Crossover Network
Comprised of a large coil, and a large capacity capacitor,
ProAudio’s exclusively designed 2-way passive network
achieves a smooth sound transition between the woofers
and tweeters.
Dual Neodymium Magnet: Tweeter Performance
For superb sound reproduction, ProAudio tweeters utilize
a Dual Neodymium magnet, which boasts extremely high
magnetic energy approximately 10 times that of typical
speaker magnets. With a magnetic flux density that far
surpasses conventional speakers, the neodymium
magnet also reduces magnetic distortion and offers
high-energy efficiency.
Strontium Magnet: Bass Performance
There’s a reason why Clarion’s speaker systems add
superior dimension. Equipped with a highly conductive
strontium magnet, Clarion’s speaker systems offer a
magnetic flux density that is significantly higher than
conventional ferrite magnets.
Rubber Surrounds
The rolled edge of the surround not only allows for linear
movement of the cone, but it also instantaneously stops
cone movement after the signal has been reproduced.
This prevents unbalanced distortion from reaching the
cone and wrinkles that can damage the drive. Whether
fielding high or low input levels, this highly elastic rubber
surround allows Clarion’s speaker systems to deliver
smooth, well-balanced music with expansive, low
distortion sound over the entire frequency.
Rear-Vented Pole Piece
To prevent pressure from building up inside the center
cap, which can result in increased amplitude distortion, an
air vent is positioned to the rear of the pole piece. This not
only prevents the voice coils from overheating, but also
increases air output from the woofer duct, resulting in
smooth cone movement.
