Bringing in the Boom: Clarion’s All-New Subwoofers
There’s a lot to like about Clarion’s new subwoofers, which consist of two competitively-priced lines. Most importantly is the
design. Even when installed into a compactly designed enclosure, these new subwoofers can boom with the best of them.
There are several reasons for this. One being the Foam-Rubber Composite material used for the surround, which, because
it’s lighter in weight, allows for a longer, more efficient excursion. Bottom line, Clarion’s new subwoofers are perfect for
SUVs and pickups where installation space is an issue.
Subwoofers and Speakers
Custom Look
With cosmetics being what they are in today’s market,
Clarion paid extra special attention to the look of both the
SW and SRW series subwoofers. It all starts with the
basket frame designs, which offer a distinct look you won’t
find anywhere else. Even the entry-level SW subwoofers
come with a custom-tooled basket. Clarion takes this a
step further, outfitting the SRW series with a custom
magnet cover that incorporates the Clarion badge.
Polypropylene Woofer Cone
It’s true that polypropylene is a widely used speaker cone
material, and for good reason. Unlike paper cones, which
sometimes add a “crispy” sound, polypropylene cones
offer a natural, smoother and well-behaved frequency
response. And because of its durability, polypropylene
expands the life of your speaker even in the rigorous in-
car environment.

7-volt RCA output, which provides a high signal-to-noise
ration for superior system performance. This is especially
important when a system is connected to an external
audio source, such as a portable DVD player, TV tuner,
or VCR, through the AUX input.
Solving Clarion’s VRX755VD 2 Zone Feature
As we mentioned in the multimedia section, Clarion’s
VRX755VD comes equipped with a completely revamped
2 Zone Entertainment feature. The feature does offer more
entertainment options, but it also presents a challenge
one that can be overcome by adding either Clarion’s
EQS744 or MCD360. Instead of utilizing a dedicated line
out, the 2 Zone utilizes the non-fade RCA output and
transforms it into a fixed level output before sending audio
to the rear zone. This could mean bad news if a sub-
woofer is hooked up, both for the subwoofer and for your
customer’s ears. That’s where the EQS744 and MCD360
come in, as your customer can use the subwoofer level
control to control the volume of the VRX755VD’s fixed
level output.

Graphic Equalizer
Clarion’s reputation for manufacturing high-grade equaliz-
er dates back to the dawn of the car audio industry.
Bottom line, we know how to put sound enthusiasts in
control of their sound system. This legacy continues with
the EQS744 7-Band Graphic Equalizer, a unit that offers a
high signal-to-noise ration with its 7-volt RCA output, and
frequency adjustments in the 50Hz-to-16kHz range over
seven bands. This means users get superior sound per-
formance, and the ability to contour their sound system to
their musical tastes. Users also benefit from the EQ’s
