Basic Operating Instructions
OASIS - BASIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
FOR MORE DETAILS PLEASE REFER TO THE MANUAL PAGES 13-24
COMPONENTS/USES
The Oasis comes complete with a 6.6 gallon tank, 33’of distribution hose, 20 stakes, 20 drippers and comes equipped with a battery operated electronic timer
and latching solenoid valve. The Oasis is ideal for normal house-plants and greenhouses. One dripper is sufficient for small and/or medium sized pots. If the
Oasis is to be used outside, place the unit in a dry, cool area well away from direct sunlight.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Press the two side buttons on the front panel then insert one 9v battery into the terminal then replace the battery back into the housing. We advise that the
battery be changed once a year.
UNIT ASSEMBLY
The Oasis
MUST be placed on a surface that is at least 2.5 feet above the floor then place plant(s) close to the surface on which the Oasis is standing.
Insert the plastic stakes close to the stems of the plant(s). Depending on the size of the pot/plant and watering requirements one or more stakes may be used per
pot/plant.
Unwind the distribution hose then connect one end of the hose into either of the two connections on the bottom front panel of the Oasis. Press firmly to ensure
the hose will not be accidentally disconnected. Next, lay the hose around the pots/plants inserting the hose into the individual stakes taking care not to create
kinks in the hose. Once all the stakes have been connected, bring the hose back to the second connection on the bottom front panel. When completely
connected you should have created a “Loop” which allows the water to drip into the pots.
NOTE: The two lengths of the hose
MUST be long enough to touch the floor before connected to the drippers. This is to ensure that watering will start
correctly.
To install the drippers, cut the hose about ½” away from the stake then connect the dripper by firmly pressing the hose onto each end of the dripper. It is best
that the outlet nozzle in the center is facing downward. Use the same procedure for all other drippers.
PROGRAMMING
Turn the programming selector in the front of the Oasis to zero (off) then fill the 6.6 gallon tank with water. Turn the selector to any of the 4 programs to
automatically start the electric timer.
Water distribution/programs
Program Water Delivery
10 days 4 oz per day for each dripper; 2x day 12 minutes per
20 days 2 oz per day for each dripper, 2x day 6 minutes per
30 days 1.35 oz per day for each dripper, 2x day 4 minutes per
40 days 1 oz per day for each dripper, 2x day 3 minutes per
NOTE: If there are fewer than 20 drippers in use the autonomy increases proportionally.
(i.e. Using 10 drippers on the 10 day program will water the pots/plants the same as the 20 day program)
VENTING
In order for the Oasis to operate correctly all the air must be expelled from inside the circuit. This procedure is very simple: Switch on the unit with the
preferred watering program then detach the hose from any ONE of the drippers. Place your finger over one end and wait for the water to flow from the free
end. Then place your finger over the end which water is flowing and at the same time remove your finger from the other end to allow water to flow from this
opposite end. Then reconnect the hose to the dripper.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Use only 9v alkaline batteries
Do not add liquid fertilizers to the water in the tank
Filter and entire unit should be cleaned after each use.
TROUBLESHOOTNG
If there is no water flowing from the drippers, please check the following:
Check that there are no air bubbles in the hose. To remove air bubbles simply disconnect the hose from the unit and blow into the hose to drive all the
water out then reconnect the hose to the unit.
Check that there are no kinks or restrictions in the hose
Check that the unit is at least 2.5 feet above the surface
Disconnect the drippers and check that they are not clogged with dirt
