Practical hints
Jump starting
The battery is located on the right side of
the trunk under the battery cover
(
컄 page 344).
왘 Make sure that the two vehicles do not
touch.
왘 Turn off all electrical consumers.
왘 Apply parking brake.
왘 Shift gear selector lever to position P.
왘 Open the trunk lid.
왘 Remove battery cover (컄 page 344).
1 Positive terminal of discharged battery
2 Negative terminal of discharged
battery
3 Positive terminal of charged battery
4 Negative terminal of charged battery
왘 Connect positive terminals 1 and 3 of
the batteries with the jumper cable.
Clamp cable to charged battery 3 first.
왘 Start engine of the vehicle with the
charged battery and run at idle speed.
왘 Connect negative terminals 2 and 4 of
the batteries with the jumper cable.
Clamp cable to charged battery 4 first.
왘 Start the engine of the disabled vehi-
cle.
You can now turn on the electrical con-
sumers. Do not turn on the lights under
any circumstances.
왘 Remove the jumper cables first from
negative terminals 2 and 4 and then
from positive terminals 1 and 3.
You can now turn on the lights.
왘 Have the battery checked at the near-
est authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

Keep flames or sparks away from battery.
Do not smoke.
Observe all safety instructions and precau-
tions when handling automotive batteries

Never invert the terminal connections.

Do not tow-start the vehicle.
