SECTION I
MODEL 560 DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS
BATTERY AND STARTER CYCLE LIMITATIONS
NOTES
1. If battery limitation is exceeded, a deep cycle including a capacity check must be
accomplished to detect possible cell damage. Refer to Chapter 24 of the Maintenance
Manual for procedures.
2. Three generator assisted cross starts are equal to one battery start.
3. If an external power unit is used for start, no battery cycle is counted.
4. Use of an external power source with voltage in excess of 28.0 Volts Direct Current (VDC)
or current in excess of 1000 amperes may damage the starter. Minimum 800 amperes for
start.
GROUND OPERATIONS
Continuous engine ground static operation up to and including five minutes at takeoff thrust is limited
to ambient temperatures not to exceed 34°C above international standard atmosphere (ISA).
Limit ground operation of pitot/static heat to two minutes to preclude damage to the pitot tubes and
angle-of-attack probe.
Electrical load is limited to 125 amps per generator during ground operations at ground idle and 225
amps at high idle. Transients up to 300 amps are permissible for up to 4 minutes.
If the airplane is cold soaked on the ground for an extended period of time at an ambient temperature
colder than –40°C, the airplane and its components must be warmed to –40°C or above prior to start.
Starter Limitation with external
power unit or generator
assisted cross start as the
starter power source.
Battery Limitation.
Three engine starts per 30
minutes. Two cycles of
operation with a 90-second
rest period between cycles is
permitted.
Three engine starts per hour.
Refer to Notes 2 and 3.
