MODEL 560 OPERATING INFORMATION
PROCEDURE FOR ADDING DIETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOMETHYL ETHER (DIEGME) FUEL
ADDITIVE
NOTE
Service experience has shown that DIEGME has provided acceptable protection from
bacterial growth in fuel systems.
Use the following procedure to blend anti-icing additive as the airplane is being refueled through the
wing filler caps:
1. Attach MIL-I-85470 additive to refuel nozzle, making sure blender tube discharges in the refueling
stream.
2. Start refueling while simultaneously fully depressing and slipping ring over trigger of blender.

DIETHYLENE GLYCOL MONOMETHYL ETHER (DIEGME) IS SLIGHTLY TOXIC IF
SWALLOWED AND MAY CAUSE EYE REDNESS, SWELLING AND IRRITATION.
IT IS ALSO COMBUSTIBLE. BEFORE USING THIS MATERIAL, REFER TO ALL
SAFETY INFORMATION ON THE CONTAINER. ASSURE THE ADDITIVE IS DI-
RECTED INTO THE FLOWING FUEL STREAM WITH THE ADDITIVE FLOW
STARTED AFTER THE FUEL FLOW STARTS AND STOPPED BEFORE FUEL
FLOW STOPS. DO NOT ALLOW CONCENTRATED ADDITIVE TO CONTACT
COATED INTERIOR OF FUEL TANK OR AIRPLANE PAINTED SURFACE.

USE NOT LESS THAN 20 FLUID OUNCES OF ADDITIVE PER 156 GALLONS OF
FUEL OR MORE THAN 20 FLUID OUNCES OF ADDITIVE PER 104 GALLONS OF
FUEL.
PROCEDURE FOR CHECKING FUEL ADDITIVES
1. Prolonged storage of the airplane will result in a water buildup in the fuel which "leaches out" the
additive. An indication of this is when an excessive amount of water accumulates in the fuel tank
sumps. The concentration can be checked using an anti-icing additive concentration test kit
available from Cessna Aircraft Company, Citation Marketing Division, Wichita, KS 67277. It is
imperative that the instructions for the test kit be followed explicitly when checking the additive
concentration. The concentrations by volume for EGME/DIEGME shall be 0.10 percent minimum
and 0.15 percent maximum, either individually or mixed in a common tank. Fuel, when added to
the tank, should have a minimum concentration of 0.10 percent by volume.
