Chapter 10 Managing Performance
What Performance Data Is Available?
statistic refers to a counter value for a single entity, for example, a line. If you enable statistics on an NE
that has 100 lines, you are dealing with 100 entities that are associated with separate sets of counters. If
you requested Cisco MGM to collect statistics for that NE, this will collect all the counter values for all
the lines under that NE. If each line has 10 counters, this results in the collection of 1000 statistic values
from that NE alone on every collection cycle.
Table 10-1 lists the types of statistics.
The following statistic examples are used:
Performance monitoring at network and element levels
Resource and capacity planning
Threshold crossing alerts, for example, alarms
Usage records for billing
Traffic management
This section includes the following information:
10.2.1 Types of Report
10.2.1 Types of Report
Reports of the statistics data that are collected from the switch are viewed in the Statistics Report.
Choose Performance MG8880/8850 MG > Statistics Report. Drag the NE to the right-hand pane to
display the statistics. The following report functions are available in the drop down list:
10.2.1.1 Raw Data Report
10.2.1.2 Utilization Data Report
10.2.1.3 Performance Data Report
Table 10-1 Statistics Types
Name Description
Summary Statistics Specifies that the summary statistics are accessible through the command line interface (CLI), for
example, the dspchancnt command on the Cisco MGX nodes. See Appendix D, “Statistics
Summary.”
Summary statistics, which is also referred as real-time statistics, can also be accessed using SNMP
through the Diagnostic Center. Summary or real-time statistics are not collected by Cisco MGM.
Note The statistics name and statistics value for the real-time counters are also used for fault
management. See Chapter 9, “Managing Faults,” and Appendix E, “Real-Time Counters.”
Interval Statistics Provides a record of the number of events over the previous 15 minutes.
Interval statistics are also known as history statistics, and are derived from the same event counters as
summary statistics.
Note Interval statistics are collected by Cisco MGM using FTP.
The following subtypes are supported:
