Cisco Nexus 7000 & 7700 Series
The Cisco Nexus™ 7000 Series Switches combine the highest levels of scalability with operational flexibility. The Cisco Nexus
7000 Series Switches comprise a modular data center-class product line designed for highly scalable 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks
with a fabric architecture that scales beyond 15 terabits per second (Tbps). Designed to meet the requirements of the most
mission-critical data centers, it delivers continuous system operation and virtualized, pervasive services. The Cisco Nexus 7000
Series is based on a proven operating system, with enhanced features to deliver real-time system upgrades with exceptional
manageability and serviceability. Its innovative design is purpose built to support end-to-end data center connectivity, consolidating
IP, storage, and interprocess communication (IPC) networks onto a single Ethernet fabric.
The Cisco Nexus 7010 is a 10-slot chassis with up to eight I/O module slots that supports up to 256 10 Gigabit Ethernet or 384
Gigabit Ethernet ports, meeting the demands of large deployments. The Cisco Nexus 7018 is an 18-slot chassis with up to
16 I/O module slots that supports up to 512 10 Gigabit Ethernet or 768 Gigabit Ethernet ports, meeting the demands of the largest
deployments.
Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches feature NX-OS Software, a data center-class operating system built with modularity, resiliency,
and serviceability at its foundation. Based on the industry-proven Cisco MDS 9000 SAN-OS Software, Cisco NX-OS helps ensure
continuous availability and sets the standard for mission-critical data center environments. The self-healing and highly modular design
of Cisco NX-OS makes zero-impact operations a reality and enables exceptional operational flexibility. Cisco Nexus 7000 supports
state-of-the-art implementations of IPv4 and IPv6 services, routing protocols, and IP Multicast features to optimize and enhance
data center and campus LAN core scalability and performance, reducing capital expenditure and operating expenses.
For data centers and LAN cores that require the best in infrastructure scalability, Cisco Nexus 7000 can provide support for
consolidated networks with virtual port channel innovations to scale beyond 1500 ports. Cisco Nexus 7000 uses the multicore,
multi-threaded NX-OS to optimize CPU resources and offload tasks to processors distributed across the chassis modules. Cisco
Nexus 7000 also features Cisco Trusted Security (TrustSec) for scalable security with link-layer encryption, security group access
control lists, and role-based access control. Cisco Nexus 7000 also offers transport flexibility, providing a foundation for unified
for unified fabrics with Cisco DCE, unified I/O, and FCoE. Virtualized control plane and data plane forwarding on Nexus 7000 provides
performance, virtual device contexts (VDCs) maximize software and hardware resource utilization while providing strong security and
software fault isolation. Cisco Nexus 7000 offers investment protection with the capacity for high-density 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit
Ethernet today - and the emerging 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps Ethernet standards as they become available.
