Copying a Bootable Image onto a Flash Memory Card

Step 4 Copy the ﬁles you saved to the TFTP server back to the Flash memory card as follows:

The Flash memory card is now reformatted and ready to use.

Copying a Bootable Image onto a Flash Memory Card

Once you have reformatted your Flash memory card of Flash Disk, you can copy a bootable image

onto it. The procedure for copying an image onto a Flash memory card or Flash Disk is based on the

following assumptions:

• You have an I/O controller with a good image in the onboard Flash SIMM so you can start the

router.

• The bootable image you want to copy to the Flash memory card or Flash Disk exists on a TFTP

server to which you have access (meaning you know its name and have connectivity to it), and at

least one interface is available over which you can access this server.

Note To ensure access to a TFTP sever, you will need to conﬁgure at least one network interface

using the setup command facility. Refer to the Conﬁguration Fundamentals Conﬁguration

Guide publication for instructions on how to conﬁgure network interface using the setup

command facility.

• You know the ﬁlename of the image you want you want to copy onto the Flash memory card or

Flash Disk.

The procedure for copying a bootable image onto a Flash memory card and onto a Flash Disk is

similar; however, this section is speciﬁc to Flash memory cards.
