Chapter 6 Troubleshooting the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch Platform
Platform Troubleshooting
When you enter this command, the system displays a list of files.
Step 3 Check the list of files for the last finished filename, which is preceded by a period (.). Note the filename
because you will need it later.
Step 4 Log in to the standby Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch as root and enter the # cd /opt/sun_install
command to change directory.
Step 5 Enter the # toggle_ftp.sh disable
filename
command to toggle FTP off.
Where:
filename—Name that you selected.
The system returns a response like the following:
You are running as root - Good...
Operating System: SunOS 5.8
Disable ftp in inetd.conf file
Step 6 Enter the # toggle_telnet.sh disable
filename
command to toggle Telnet off.
Where:
filename—Name that you selected.
The system returns a response like the following:
You are running as root - Good...
Operating System: SunOS 5.8
Disable ftp in inetd.conf file
Step 7 Log in to the active Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch as root and enter the # cd /opt/sun_install command
to change directory.
Step 8 Enter the # toggle_ftp.sh disable
filename
command to toggle FTP off.

filename—Name that you selected.
The system returns a response like the following:

Step 9 Enter the # toggle_telnet.sh disable
filename
command to toggle Telnet off.

Step 10 Verify that Telnet and FTP are off. Telnet or FTP to your active Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch. If Telnet
and FTP are turned off, the system displays the following error message:
Connection refused.
The procedures for securing the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch is complete. If you have BAMS on your
network, continue to the “Securing Cisco BAMS” section on page 6-189.
