Cooling System
The MGX 8230 incorporates a fan tray assembly (with eight fans) located on the left side of the card
cage to pull ambient cooling air into the system through openings between front card faceplates, over
the boards in the card cage, and out through air exhaust openings on the left side of unit. Figure 1-6 is
an illustration of the MGX 8230 fan tray assembly. The cooling system incorporates the following design
features:
• -48 VDC fans with rotation sensing
• N+1 fan redundancy
• Hot pluggable (if done quickly) Fan Tray Assembly
• Noise level < 65 dBA
