1.4 High-speed I/O paths in BladeCenter H
As noted, the BM BladeCenter H chassis has two types of fabrics inside:
Standard fabric (which is almost the same as in the BladeCenter E chassis)
High-speed fabric which is capable of carrying 10 Gbps Ethernet and 4X InfiniBand
The high-speed fabric is used when you install a high-speed expansion card into a blade
server such as the Cisco 4X InfiniBand HCA (see 2.2, “Cisco 4X InfiniBand HCA Expansion
Card” on page 18) and the 4X DDR InfiniBand HCAs (see 2.6.2, “InfiniBand DDR HCAs” on
page 25).
These cards connect to the blades through a PCI Express x4 socket and provide two x4 (2.5
GBps x4 = 10 GBps) connections to the internal network infrastructure, as shown in
Figure 1-8.
