Site Preparation
General Requirements
Warning
Before working on equipment that is connected to power lines, remove jewelry (including rings,
necklaces, and watches). Metal objects will heat up when connected to power and ground and can

Before working on a system that has an on/off switch, turn OFF the power and unplug the power cord.

This equipment must be installed and maintained by service personnel as defined by AS/NZS 3260.
Incorrectly connecting this equipment to a general-purpose outlet could be hazardous. The
telecommunications lines must be disconnected 1) before unplugging the main power connector or 2)

The plug-socket combination must be accessible at all times, because it serves as the main

The following safety requirements must be observed:
• Only authorized personnel should have access to the IGX node.
• Correct alignment of connector pins with connectors is vitally important. Before you insert a card,
make sure that the pins are straight and that the connectors on the card and the backplane align with
each other. Insert the card gently.
