UFM Physical and Electrical Specifications
This section contains physical and electrical specifications for the UFM cards.
T1 Interface on UFI-8T1 Back Card
This section applies to each T1 line on the UFI-8T1. The UFI-8T1 is the eight-port T1 back card for the
UFM. The information applies whether the front card supports four or eight ports.
Dimensions: Front card: 15.25 by 16.25 in. Back card: 6.5 by 16.25 in.
Weight: Front card: 8 lb (3.6 kg). Back card: 4 lb (1.8 kg).
Input voltage: –48 VDC
Power consumption: UFM-C: 66 W. UFM-U: 72 W (V.35/X.21) or 93 W (HSSI).
Interface mode: DTE or DCE
Line rate: 1.544 Mbps, ± 50 bps (± 200 bps VCO lock range)
Line framing: ESF per AT&T TR 54016
Frame Relay interface: Meets ANSI T1.618, two-octet header
Frame Relay rates: Either 56 kbps or n x 64 kbps, where 1 ≤n ≤ 24. Sum of all
n ≤24.
Number of interfaces: 1–24 occupied channels where 1 ≤n ≤ 24, and the sum of n ≤24.
Synchronization: Transmitter can be either loop-timed to line or synchronized to
node.
Line coding: B8ZS
Framing formats: Fractional T1, contiguous DS0s. Minimum of four DS0s required
Signal level: DSX-1 compatible
Line impedance: Terminated=100 ohms nominal. Bridged=1 Kohm
Pulse amplitude: Individual pulse amplitude 2.4–3.6V (making a total base-to-peak
amplitude of 6V ± 0.6V)
Minimum pulse density: Zero-code suppression, either LSB, MSB or B8ZS
VF signaling: Robbed bit D4 with A and B bits
Max. line lengths: Up to 533 ft with equalizers using ABAM cable
