Chapter 3 Installing the IGX
IGX Configuration Summary
• For setting up voice lines:
–
Activate the line (using the upcln or upln commands).
–
Configure the line (using the cnfln command).
–
Configure redundancy (using the addyred command).
• For setting up data lines and ports:
–
Activate the line (using the upcln command).
–
Configure the line (using the cnfcln command).
–
Configure redundancy (using the addyred command).
• For setting up Frame Relay lines and ports. (See the “Setting Up Frame Relay Ports and Connections
(UFM)” section on page 3-39 for a description.)
–
Activate each port (using the upfrport command).
–
Specify a mode for the card as needed if the card is a UFM-U (using the cnfmode command).
To determine the current mode of a particular UFM-U, use the dspmode command.
• For setting up ATM lines and ports:
–
Activate the line (using the upln command).
–
Configure the line (using the cnfln command).
–
Activate the ports (using the upport command).
–
Configure the ports (using the cnfport command).
–
For a UXM-E, specify cellbus bandwidth as needed (using the cnfbusbw command).
• For setting up voice connections:
–
Add the connections (using the addcon command).
–
Configure connection parameters (using the cnfvchadv, cnfchdl, cnfchec, cnfchgn, cnfcond,
cnfcondsc, cnfrcvsig, cnfsmtsig, cnfvchtp, and cnfchutl commands).

For only the UVM, additional configuration commands include cnfuvmchparm, cnfchfax, and
cnflnpass. (Use the dsplncnf command to check whether the port is configured for External,
Pass-through, Blocking, or Inserting.)
• For setting up data connections:
–
Add the connections (using the addcon command).
–
Configure connection parameters (using the cnfdclk, cnfcldir, and cnfict commands).
• For setting up Frame Relay connections:
–
Add the connections (using the addcon command).
–
Configure connection classes (using the cnfcls command).
–
Configure control templates, channel utilization, and channel priorities (using the cnfict,
cnfchutl, and cnfchpri commands).
• For setting up ATM connections (see also the paragraph that follows this list for information on
connections using ATM-to-Frame Relay interworking):

Add connections (using the addcon command).
–
Configure a connection type (using the cnfcontyp command).
• Optimize network routing and bandwidth (using the cnfchutl, cnfpref, cnfcos commands).
