Optimize Your WiFi Connection
A WiFi card continually looks for the strongest signal with the purpose of connecting to the Internet.
When it finds a stronger signal, the WiFi card “jumps” to the stronger connection without checking that
the current connection is in use. This can result in the loss of a CaseViewNet connection. To help
prevent the WiFi card from “jumping” to another network, change the following wireless settings on your
Case CATalyst network computer. You may want to make similar changes on each CaseViewNet client
computer that connects to your Case CATalyst network.
1. Be sure your configured router is plugged in and On before proceeding. The router is on when the
I/O indicator light on the back displays a steady green.
2. Turn on your Case CATalyst computer and wait until it is fully booted.
3. Verify the wireless capability on your computer is enabled.
4. From the Start Menu, select Control Panel.
5. Depending on your Windows operating system, double click Networks or Networks and Sharing
Center.
6. Select Manage wireless networks. The dialog box for managing wireless connections displays.
7. Double click your network name. This is the network name identified during the router configuration
that you use to send realtime data to your CaseViewNet clients. Your clients also use this name to
establish a wireless connection with your network.
8. Do one of the following:
• The Wireless Network properties dialog box for your network name displays.
• Click the Wireless Properties button.
9. Check the option, Connect automatically when this network is in range.
10. Click OK to save your changes.
11. Identify any other stored wireless profiles, if any, that may be in range of your wireless connection.
Double click the network name and verify the option, Connect automatically when this network is in
range, is not
checked.
12. Close any open manage wireless network dialog boxes when finished.
