Release Notes for Cisco CDA Visual Quality Experience Application Release 3.10
New and Changed Features and Functionality
VQE is part of an end-to-end solution from Cisco that builds video awareness into the network
infrastructure. For VQE Release 3.10, Cisco VQE technology is intended for wireline operators who
offer managed broadcast (multicast) IPTV services using xDSL.

New and Changed Features and Functionality
The following sections provide a summary of new and changed VQE features and functionality relevant
for Cisco VQE Release 3.10:
Secure Delivery of Configuration Files
The Cisco CDA VQE 3.10 Release enables VCDS to support secure delivery of channel configuration
file and per-client network configuration file to the VQE-Cs on the STBs via HTTPS protocol. To enable
secure delivery, the following parameters are set in VQE-C Configuration file.
secure_delivery_enable
secured_vcds_port
ssl_certs_pathname

TACAC+ Server Support for GUI
The Cisco CDA VQE 3.10 Release supports TACACS+ authentication mechanism for VQE server and
VQE Tools AMT GUI.
The VQE Server and VQE Tools server will act as TACACS+ Clients, and a non-VQE box in the
Customer environment will act as TACACS+ Server.
A new system parameter to enable TACACS+ authentication mechanism for VQE Server and Tools GUI
is added in the VQE Configuration tool.
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) Support
In Cisco CDA VQE 3.10 Release,, VQE-S is enhanced to support RCC for H.265 encoded High
Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) channels.This enhancement is license based service and the service
providers must procure a license from Cisco and install in /etc/opt/vqes directory in the server so that
VQE-S supports caching of HEVC channels and RCC is enabled on HEVC channels. If there is no
license in the system, the RCC enabled H.265 encoded channels becomes inactive at the 6 minute mark
and errors are logged in /var/log/vqe/vqes.log
