Chapter 6 Event Management
Windows Event Logs
You can change to different logs (for example, the Application, System, or
Security logs) by choosing Options from the Log menu.
Windows Logs and Event Types
You can choose between three different logs, depending on the type of event data
you want to view. You can view these log files for any Windows computer. The
Application log is typically the most useful log since it contains ICM-related
events.
• Application log. Records events logged by Windows applications (including
all ICM applications and processes running on the local computer). For
example, when the Node Manager restarts on the local computer, an
informational event is entered in the Application log.
• System log. Records events logged by the Windows local computer system
components (for example, disk drives, network drivers, event log services).
For example, the failure of a driver or other local component to load during
startup is recorded in the System log.
