• Click to highlight a lab, then click Lab > Load.
• Select a lab from the list of
Recent Labs on the Home tab, and click Yes to open the lab.
2. After you have loaded a lab, click the Lab Instructions
tab on the Home panel and read through the
lab instructions.
3. From the Devices drop-down menu on the Consoles panel, select the device(s) that you need to
congure in order to complete the lab and follow the steps in the lab. You can also select the device
you want to congure by clicking the NetMap tab, right-clicking the device, and selecting Congure
in Simulator.
4. When you have completed the lab, click Lab > Grade Lab to ensure that you have completed it
successfully.
5. You can choose to save your single device conguration or multiple device congurations by
selecting the appropriate option in the Console menu. There is more information about saving device
congurations in the Console Menu or the Quick-Launch Toolbar section of this manual.
Menus
The menu options in NetSim 8 enable you to easily navigate through the labs, the NetMap, the Lab
Compiler, the Consoles Panel, and more. These menus include the Menu Bar and the Quick-Launch
Toolbar.
Menu Bar
File Menu
The options in this menu tree enable you to open a topology le, open a single device conguration le,
and open multiple device conguration les, as well as exit the program.
Open
This option enables you to select a conguration le to open. The supported le extensions are *.nwc,
which loads multiple device congurations; *.rtr, which loads a single device conguration in the active
console; and *.top, which opens a NetMap le.
Recent Files
If you previously opened les, including *.top and *.nwc les, they will appear in this list. You can click
a le to open it.
Exit
This option closes the program.
View Menu
The options in this menu tree enable you to alter the way you view the Home screen.
Hide Toolbar
Select this option to hide the Quick-Launch Toolbar. To restore the Quick-Launch Toolbar, clear this
option.
StatusBar Hide
Select this option to hide the status bar, which displays the open le and the status of NetSim, on the
bottom of the screen. To restore the status bar, clear this option.
