Table 7-3 provides a description of the 4-port channelized OC-3/STM-1 line card LEDs.

LED Label Color State Meaning
FAIL Yellow Off Off when line card is working properly. Turns on for a few
seconds during line card power-on self test (POST), then turns
off when the line card is working properly.
On On when the line card POST fails.
LOOP Green Off Off when the line card is available for normal operation.
On On when one or more DS1/E1, DS3, or SONET subports on this
port are looped back and cannot carry data traffic. Use the
no loopback command to disable the loop.
ALARM Green Off Off when the line card is operating normally.
On On when an alarm condition exists at the corresponding port. Use
the show facility-alarm status command to display more
information about the alarm condition.
CD (carrier
detected)
Green Off No carrier is detected—this port is not able to pass traffic.
On On when a carrier is detected at the corresponding port and the
port is properly configured to pass traffic.
