Chapter 18 Troubleshooting the Installation
ATM Line Card Troubleshooting Information
With the BNC cable
connected and the line card
configured under Cisco IOS,
the CARRIER LED does not
illuminate.
The cable is not seated correctly. Unplug and replug the cable. — Y —
The cable is plugged in backward. Verify that the transmit of the far
end is plugged into the receive of
the Cisco 10000 equipment and
vice versa.
The equipment at the far end of
the cable is not operational.
Verify that the far end is enabled
and actively sending a signal
down the cable.
The cable is broken. As an experiment to isolate the
failure, use a small loopback
cable to connect the Cisco 10000
line card to itself. If the LED
lights under this condition,
continue to investigate cable or
far-end equipment failure. Try
replacing the cable.
Defective line card. Replace the line card.
