Chapter 17 Installing and Removing Line Cards
Removing Half-Height Line Cards and Carrier
Removing a Carrier
Use the following procedure to remove a carrier from the chassis:

All safety requirements and recommendations must be read by all personnel prior to working on the

Step 1 Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist and to the ESD socket on the chassis, or to a bare metal
surface on the chassis or frame (Figure 17-54).

Note The carrier does not have ejector levers to disengage cards from the backplane, so you must remove any
line cards before you remove the carrier.
Caution Do not remove the carrier with line cards installed.
Step 2 Remove any line cards from the carrier according to the “Removing a Half-Height Line Card” section
on page 17-51.
Step 3 Loosen the top and bottom captive screws on the carrier (Figure 17-55).
