Chapter 17 Installing and Removing Line Cards
Removing Full-Size Line Cards
Step 3 Simultaneously pivot both ejector levers away from each other to disengage the line card from the
backplane (Figure 17-49).
Step 4 Slide the line card out of the slot and place it on an antistatic surface, or in an antistatic bag.

Step 5
See the “Installing Full-Size Line Cards” section on page 17-10 for instructions to install a new line card.
If you are not installing a replacement line card, install a blank faceplate in the slot.
Warning
Do not operate the system unless all slots contain a line card or a blank faceplate. Blank faceplates
are necessary in empty slots to prevent exposure to hazardous voltages, to reduce electromagnetic
interference (EMI) that may disrupt other equipment, and to direct the flow of cooling air through the
chassis.
Statement 156
If you have a Cisco 10005 chassis, and a line card using BNC connectors, see Appendix A, “Cisco 10005
Extender Card Information” for information on removing the extender card.
