• Open the bale type latch by pressing the clasp downward until it is in a horizontal position as shown
in Figure 17-45.
Step 4 Grasp the SFP module by the latch and gently pull it out of the line card.

Step 5 After removing the SFP module or GBIC module, place the module in an antistatic bag or other
protective environment.
Removing Full-Size Line Cards
Note It is not necessary to remove the cables from the faceplate of a line card if you plan to move the same
line card to a different slot. However, check to be sure the cables are not run through the
cable-management bracket before you remove the line card and cables.
It is not necessary to remove the cables if you are not replacing the card. If you are removing a line card
that uses BNC cables, and are replacing the same type of card in the same slot, you do not need to remove
the coaxial cables. If you are removing a line card that uses coaxial cables, and are not replacing the
same type of card in the same slot, you must remove the coaxial cables from the BNC connectors.
