Installing Full-Size Line Cards
Step 6 Secure the line card in the chassis by tightening the top and bottom captive screws (Figure 17-14).

Caution To ensure that there is adequate space for additional line cards, always tighten the captive screws on each
newly installed line card before you insert any additional line cards. These screws prevent accidental
removal and provide proper grounding for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding.

Avoid eye or skin exposure to direct or scattered radiation.
Statement 1013
Warning
Invisible laser radiation may be emitted from disconnected fibers or connectors. Do not stare into
beams or view directly with optical instruments.
Statement 1051
The line card cycles through its power-on self-test (POST). The FAIL LED lights during portions of the
POST, but remains off after POST on a properly working line card. If the FAIL LED remains on, go to
Chapter 18, “Troubleshooting the Installation.”
