VerifyingandTroubleshootingtheInstallation
WhenyoufirstpowerONtheaccessserver,allLEDslightwhilethesystemrunsa
seriesofselftestdiagnostics.Afterthesystempassesinitialdiagnostics,allLEDsgo
off.LatertheLEDslightagainasdescribedinearlierinthisdocument.
Tocompletetheinstallation,verifythetrunkcardLEDsoperateproperlybyobserving
thefollowingLEDstates:
• ThepowerLEDisON.
IfthepowerLEDremainsOFF,verifythatthecardisseatedproperly.
IfthepowerLEDlightsonothertrunkcardsinthedialshelf,tryinsertingthetrunk
cardinadifferentslot.IfnoneofthepowerLEDslights,checkyourdialshelf
powerconnections,powerentrymodules,andACinputpowersupplies(if
present).
• TheHCPULEDisON.
IftheHCPULEDisOFFbutthepowerLEDisON,thesoftwareimagemighthave
failedtoloadontothecard.Thedialshelfcontrollerwillattempttoreloadthe
softwareautomatically.Afteraprogrammednumberofattemptstoreloadthe
softwareimagehavefailed,thedialshelfcontrollerwillpowerOFFthetrunkcard,
andallLEDswillshutoff.
Ifthishappens,assumethatthefailureisduetodefectivehardware.Returnthe
cardtothefactoryforreplacement.
• TheFCPULEDisON.
IftheFCPULEDisOFFwhiletheHCPULEDisON,eitherthehardwareis
defectiveortheframerprocessorsoftwarehascrashed.Todetermineifthefailure
issoftwarerelated,waitwhilethedialshelfcontrollercardautomaticallyreloads
thecard.Theautoreloadfeatureonthedialshelfcontrollercardwillattemptto
reloadthesoftwareimage.Ifthesoftwarefailstoreloadaftertheprogrammed
numberoftimes,assumethatthefailureisduetodefectivehardware.Returnthe
cardtothefactoryforreplacement.

ConfiguringtheCT1andCE1TrunkCard
TheCisco5814dialshelfonlyrecognizesCT1andCE1trunkcardsinslots0through
5withinthedialshelfchassis;therefore,youmustinstalltrunkcardsonlyinthefirstsix
slots.
Ifyouarereplacingatrunkcardinthesameslotastheoneyoujustremoved,the
systemautomaticallyrecognizestheprevioussystemconfiguration,andnoother
configurationisneeded.
Ifyouarereplacingatrunkcardinadifferentslotfromtheoneyoujustremoved,
additionalconfigurationisneeded.RefertotheCiscoAS5800UniversalAccess
ServerSoftwareInstallationandConfigurationGuidetoconfiguretheCT1andCE1
interfaces.
