Group SPI
This field specifies the security parameter index of the IP address range entered
in the IP Address Range - Start and End fields. The SPI is a 32-bit number (8
hexadecimal digits) assigned to the initiator of the security association request by
the receiving IPSec endpoint. On receiving a packet, the destination address,
protocol, and SPI are used to determine the security association. The security
association allows the node to authenticate or decrypt the packet according to the
security policy configured for that security association.
