To test the condition of copper cable s on 48-port 10/100/1000 BASE-T modules, use the
test cable-diag no sti cs tdr command.
test cable-diag no sti cs tdr { interface {int erf a ce interface-number}
Note This command will be deprecated in future Cisco IOS releases. Use the diagnostic start command
instead.
Syntax Description
Defaults T his command has no default settings.

Usage Guidelines T he TDR test is supporte d on Catalyst 4500 series switche s for the following line card s only:
• WS-X 4548-GB-RJ45
• WS-X 4548-GB-RJ45V
• WS-X 4524-GB-RJ45V
• WS-X 4013+TS
• WS-C49 48
• WS-C49 48-10GE
The valid values for interface interface are fastethernet an d gig abi tethe rne t.
Do not start the test at the same time on both ends of the cable. Starting the test at both ends of the c able
at the same time can lead to false test results.
Do not change the port configurat ion during any cable diagn ostics test. This acti on may result in
incorrect test results.
The interface must be operating before starting the TDR test. If the port is down, the results of the test
will be invalid. Issue the no shutdown command on the port.
Examples This exampl e shows how to start the TDR test on po rt 1 on module 2:
Switch# test cable-diagnostics tdr int gi2/1

This example shows the message that displays when the TDR test is not supported on a module:
